MUSCAT, SEPT 25 - State-backed Mazoon Dairy plans to market its range of milk, dairy and juice products under a distinctive label that will be positioned as the flagship brand of Oman’s emerging dairy farming and milk production industry.

The brand name is currently under design and development, according to a high-level executive of Mazoon Dairy. When unveiled, ahead of the launch of the company’s portfolio of dairy products in Q4 2018, the brand will epitomise a proud ‘Oman Origin’ product that captures the freshness, quality and value expected of a world-class dairy project, said Dr Arjun Subramanian (pictured), General Manager Projects at Mazoon Dairy Company.

In comments after the signing of a contract for the execution of the main package of the RO 100 million venture in Al Sinaina in Buraimi Governorate, Dr Subramanian said the company expects a strong uptake of its products when they hit the market before the end of next year.

“Mazoon Dairy’s entry into the market will be based on leveraging our strengths as being a local product, a quality producer, and also on price. We anticipate an inherent demand for local products, a craving for products of similar aesthetics, quality and value in that range,” the General Manager explained.

“Besides, there have been occasions when supermarket shelves have been emptied of fresh milk and dairy products, especially on occasions of strong seasonal demand, supply disruptions during adverse weather conditions, and so on. This has led to a demand for local products. Also, given the investment we are making in project infrastructure, which will match the best available technology, as well as in terms of product range, packaging, aesthetics and quality, we hope to be well positioned as a national brand.”

Importantly, juices constitute a key component of Mazoon Dairy’s product portfolio, according to the executive.
