New chairman of OCCI board elected

Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef was elected the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) on Sunday. Al Yousef was elected chairman during a meeting of the winners of OCCI board elections in Muscat and boards of branches in various governorates across the Sultanate. The meeting was attended by Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Head of the OCCI Elections Committee, and members of the Main Committee of the OCCI Board Elections for 2018-22. Dr Salim bin Salayum al Junaibi and Rashid bin Amer al Meselhi were elected the deputy chairmen. Hussein bin Hathith al Bat’hari and Anwar bin Hamad al Sinani were elected members of the Executive Committee and Saleh bin Juma al Balushi, Director of the Board of Directors Department, as Treasurer of the Executive Committee.


Members of the auditing and investment committees were elected from outside the OCCI Executive Committee as per Article 23 of the Royal Decree No 45/2017. Al Dheeb said the boards of directors of OCCI branches in all governorates met on Thursday to elect heads of the boards of directors of OCCI branches in the governorates and their deputies through secret ballot under the supervision of the OCCI Elections Committee. He said the current meeting of the OCCI Board comprised five members of the Governorate of Muscat, in addition to 10 heads of the boards of directors of OCCI branches in the governorates. — ONA
