AMSTERDAM: The nerve agent sarin or a similar substance was used in the April 4 attack on the Syrian town of Khan Shaykhun, according to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). The British Delegation to the OPCW tweeted the findings on Wednesday, citing the Director General of the OPCW, at the start of a special session of the OPCW Executive Council. The OPCW had commissioned a team of experts to investigate after the attack. British and Turkish analyses had previously come to the same conclusion. The attack killed 87 people including 30 children in Khan Shaykhun in Idlib province, a rebel-held area in north-western Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an independent monitor in Britain. — DPA
