NCSI bags Spatial Excellence Awards

HYDERABAD: The Sultanate represented by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) has won the International Spatial Excellence Awards at the conclusion of the Geospatial World Forum 2018 which was held in Hyderabad. The award was claimed by the Oman National Spatial Data Infrastructure as the best means for enhancing economic growth. The award is given to entities that utilize the best policies and modern technologies on the world level in order to serve local communities and citizen of their countries.


Dr Khalifa bin Abdullah al Barwani, CEO of the National Centre for Statistics and Information said that claiming the award is an international recognition of the advanced level the Sultanate has achieved in the geospatial field which received special attention from the government. The Sultanate has adopted the geospatial information technology systems as one of the tools utilised in scientific planning and shaping the land utilisation policies. — ONA
