MUSCAT: National Bank of Oman (NBO) recently held a ceremony to celebrate the graduation of 12 students from its management trainee programme, Qadat Al Mustaqbal, and 16 students from its training programme for Diploma Holders.

The two groups of young Omani men and women completed the comprehensive training programmes, which facilitate a smooth take-off to a career in the banking industry.

Through an intensive schedule comprising both theoretical and practical training, participants gained experience and expertise across the full spectrum of NBO’s operations.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Ahmed al Musalmi, CEO of NBO, said: “I congratulate all participants and wish them every success as they embark on what will be a very rewarding career. By creating an enabling environment where young talent is encouraged to flourish, we will ensure that the vast talent and potential within Oman’s student population is harnessed, and that the wider community benefits from this, which is another important step on our transformational journey to be the ‘Bank of Choice’ for our customers, partners and employees.”

The two programmes are run through the bank’s Academy of Excellence, which offers various training and development courses to help advance NBO’s strategic goals and create and sustain a strong performance-based culture.

Qadat Al Mustaqbal consists of classroom courses, training days and a series of assignments and assessments.

The Training Programme for Diploma Holders comprises five months of external training and one month of in-house training at the Academy of Excellence, as well as a series of quantitative and qualitative tests.

Nasser al Hajri, General Manager — Chief Human Resources Officer and Head of Corporate Affairs at NBO, added: “In line with our vision to be the Bank of Choice, building our employees’ capabilities is of paramount importance. The introduction of Qadat Al Mustaqbal and the training programme for Diploma Holders reiterates our commitment to attracting and developing local talent. The programme provides students with practical banking knowledge and enhances their skill-sets to jump start their careers with NBO.”
