NBO Golf Classic Grand Final 2017 teed off in style

MUSCAT, NOV 1 – Millions of viewers worldwide were to a gala treat as the NBO Golf Classic Grand Final 2017 has officially teed off under the auspices of Sultan bin Salem al Habsi, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank Oman (CBO) while several ministerial delegates and other who is who from a cross section of the society witnessed the event at the Greg Norman-designed Al Mouj Golf, The Wave in Muscat on Wednesday. Visitors of all ages are attending the 4-day event where 45 of the world’s most professional golfers will bid to secure a fully-fledged European Tour Card for the 2018 season till Saturday. The NBO Grand Final will bring down the curtains to the European Challenge Tour 2017 Road to Oman season.
Globally acclaimed motivational speaker Bill Sanderson and the Sultanate’s leading race car driver and NBO ambassador, Ahmad al Harthy, gave a seminar on the psychology of champions, and how sporting excellence can translate to the world of business after the grand opening ceremony.
“The Road to Oman was a fiercely fought journey across three continents. It was a mix of historic competitions such as the Barclays Kenya Open, with newer events in developing golfing nations such as Ras al Khaimah, Turkey and China joining the tournament. It has traversed the globe before coming to our beautiful country, Oman, for the finale. We are proud to host the culmination of the season played here in Muscat, the final springboard to the elite European Tour. This is indeed an honour for us and we could not be more delighted to have it played out on our very own world-class golf course,” Sayyidah Rawan al Said, Chairperson of NBO, said, adding that “At NBO, we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting this tournament at all levels. We believe that this great game is more than just a sport, we believe it is the perfect vehicle that can help drive Oman’s economy forward and showcase what we have to offer.”
Besides the main competition, guests are also be able to enjoy the various other entertainment attractions on the lush Al Mouj lawn which include audacious displays of skill by the Trick Shot Boys, a bouncy castle for children and a Mary Poppins show. They can also enjoy one of the numerous food and beverage stations dotted around the venue.
In addition to the NBO Golf Classic Grand Final, there is NBO Amateur Final in which 12 Omani National Players are participating in a two-day tournament to establish the Number One Omani National Player.
Oman Air, Al Tasnim Enterprises, Omantel, Almouj, BMW, Europcar, and Majan Shipping and many other well-known brands have joined hands to make the NBO Golf Classic Grand Final a grand success.
The NBO Golf Classic Grand Final 2017 is the culmination of the European Challenge Tour’s “Road to Oman” 2017, which includes 27 tournaments across 22 different countries. Golfers are competing for a share of a €420,000 prize fund, with the top 15 players in the final “Road to Oman” rankings earning playing cards for next season’s European Tour International Schedule. First held in 1987, the European Challenge Tour has become an established stepping-stone for future champions.
