MUSCAT: The National Comprehensive Survey Programme for transport in various governorates of the Sultanate will start on Sunday (October 15). The survey is part of the National Urban Development Strategy, which is supervised by the Secretariat General of the Supreme Council for Planning.

The strategy’s objective is to develop planning tools and an information programme to “build an integrated transport model”. The survey will be conducted between October and December this year in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Royal Oman Police (ROP). It will include field surveys of traffic, besides traffic counting, automatic traffic counting, journey duration surveys, road user behaviour surveys through interviews with hotel owners, companies and vehicle owners. — ONA
