National Training panel at Saudi Chambers Council visits OCCI

MUSCAT: The National Training Committee at the Council of Saudi Chambers on Sunday visited Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) to learn about the training sector in the Sultanate, the types of training institutions and organisational regulations of the training institutions. The Committee met with Said bin Saleh al Kiyoumi, Chairman of OCCI, who explained that the alignment between education outputs and labour market will not be realised unless the integration of efforts between the authorities responsible for education and market institutions work together, adding that the challenges faced by the GCC labour market are similar and revolve around this area.
The Committee also met with the Committee of Human Resources Development and Labour Market at OCCI, headed by Mohammed bin Hassan al Ansi and the presence of representatives of training institutes and centres in the Sultanate and the representatives of the Directorate-General of Vocational Training at the Ministry of Manpower in the Sultanate.
Dr Ahmed al Sultan, Head of the National Training Committee in the Private Sector, Head of the Saudi delegation said that the harmonisation between education output and the labour market is a common concern among the GCC countries and that the solution lies in training and rehabilitation, explaining that to achieve greater productivity we should focus on optimising training, rehabilitation and development.
The visit comes within the context of the pursuit of the Committee for the strengths and excellence practices, training and rehabilitation of the GCC States to hammer out a joint document that combines these points down to the main objective of upgrading the training industry and to come up with creative solutions that upgrade the training institutions and programmes. — ONA
