National Nursing Conference begins

Muscat, August 13 - The 5th National Nursing Conference began at the PDO Training Centre on Sunday.


The Directorate-General of Khoula Hospital, represented by Directorate of Nursing Affairs, in collaboration with the Petroleum Development Oman Medical Centre (PDO), organised the conference.


More than 655 people from health institutions across the Sultanate attended the five-day meet presided over by Janaab Al Sayyida Mera bint Mashal al Said.


It aims at raising awareness on providing care for patients and updating nurses’ knowledge in specialised areas, promoting managerial and leadership skills and discussing evidence-based practice in managing critically ill patients.


It also plans to promote safe and effective maternal and child health.


Maia al Siabi, Director of Nursing Affairs in Khoula Hospital, said: “The conference is focusing on instilling leadership qualities in nursing personnel, and providing quality care for patients in different clinical areas of nursing: maternity and child, critical care, etc.”


The conference will discuss specialisations such as leadership, maternal and child health, surgical nursing and critical care.
