PARIS: The Royal Cavalry secured a big sport pride when stallion Nafees won French Derby Race of 2,000 metres under the sponsorship of Qatar. The race was held in French Chanty racecourse for first group of 4-year hold. Nafees was ridden by Oliveh Baleeh and trained by Charle Gordon.
Azhar, owned by John Mark Dwatergon, came second, ridden by Pearl Charle and trained by Damian Dwatergon, while Bander, owned by Yas Horse racing and ridden by Yoytz Mondezabel came third. Nafees was the most likely to win the Derby especially after he won Dorman prize in his first participation this season. He won French producer award for Arabian horses last years. — ONA
