Mwasalat services in Salalah, Suhar from Dec 28

MUSCAT: Mwasalat will launch public transport services within Salalah and Suhar from December 28 as part of the commitment towards the implementation of the public transportation strategic plan in the Sultanate.


Services will be free for seven days from December 28 to January 3, 2019.


The new routes in Salalah will be as follow: (Starting point from Salalah Airport — Dhofar University — Al Saada Sports Complex — Dhofar Police Station — Technical College — Sultan Qaboos Armed Forces Hospital — Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex — Al Hasila roundabout — 23rd July Street — Sultan Qaboos Mosque — Al Nahda Street — Salalah Park — Al Rabat Street — Awqad roundabout — Salalah Club — Al Qurum roundabout — Sultan Qaboos Street — Salalah Port) and then the bus will return through the same route towards the starting point, at a rate of one trip every 30 minutes from 6 am to 11:30 pm on weekdays, and from 7 am to 11:30 pm on weekends and public holidays. Customers can purchase tickets on the bus.


As for Suhar, (Sohar Port — City Centre — Hospital) route will be as follows: (Starting point from Suhar — Ghadan — Falaj al Qabael — Al Makarem Street — Al Ghashba Street — Sultan Qaboos Street — Fruits and Vegetables Market — Sohar Market — Al Cornish Park — Al Gomaa Market — Al Waqba Street — Sohar Municipality — Sohar Medical Complex — Sohar Bridge — Wadi Haiby Street — Farmers Market — Directorate-General of Municipalities — International Exhibitions Centre — Sohar Hospital).


On the other hand, route of (Salan — Al Sawahera roundabout) will pass by the following destinations: (Starting point from Salan tunnel — Al Tarif Street — Al Waqba Street — Sohar Municipality — Sohar Medical Complex — Omani Women Association — Ghiel Al Shabol roundabout — Al Nour Street — Al Sawahera roundabout), and then the bus will return through the same route towards the starting point, at a rate of one trip every 30 minutes from 6 am to 11:30 pm on weekdays, and from 7 am to 11:30 pm on weekends and public holidays. Customers may purchase tickets on the bus.


Prior to launching the new routes at Salalah and Suhar, Mwasalat took into account the need of various segments of society to use safe and convenient means of transportation. A team from the company conducted field visits to the two wilayats and met with the concerned authorities to take their opinions and record their requirements, in order to form a common view on public transportation services inside each wilayat.


Operating with a fleet of new buses, free WiFi powered by Omantel will be available on board.
