Muscat,Nov 20 – The Muscat Showjumping Series will take place on the November 24th and 25th at the Olympic Equestrian Training Centre and the preparations are on in full swing. Sultan al Tooqi, the 2010 Youth Olympics silver medal winner, said the Muscat Showjumping Series will be an effort to popularise and improve the standard of equestrian in Oman.
“Olympic Equestrian Training Centre (OETC) is co-operating with Tanfeedh and OEF to work hard and improve the equestrian standards in Oman. For us at OETC, the Oman Equestrian Federation and Tanfeedh, we are now able to host local events for this season and next season. But talking specifically for this season, we are celebrating Oman National Day on 24th and 25th this month. The show is open for public, we will have some refreshments and there will be a kids corner as well,’’ he added.
The Showjumping Series will also have some high-profile visitors on the second day. “On the 25th, one of the biggest sponsors of show jumping in Oman, His Highness Sheikh Shabib bin Taimur al Said will be attending the event, and he will be our guest of honour,’’ Al Tooqi added.
As far as participation goes Al Tooqi said there will be a number of foreign participants apart from the Omani show jumpers.
“So far we have 40 participants who have registered for the event including local and international.”
