By Lakshmi Kothaneth — MUSCAT: Jan 15 - Muscat has been eagerly awaiting rains and Tuesday might be the day, according to the weather experts. According to the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA), rains are expected along the coast of Musandam and Oman Sea. “After Musandam and coast of Oman Sea, the weather formation will extend to other governorates: Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, Al Buraimi, and South and North Al Batinah. By Thursday or Friday, rains are expected in the coastal areas of Arabian Sea as well,” it said.

Rains are expected because of low pressure over Oman. The coastal areas are likely to receive heavy rains and cause wadis to overflow, they said. The weatherman has predicted high cloud advection over northern governorates on Monday and mainly clear skies over rest of the Sultanate with chances of late night to early morning low-level clouds over Al Wusta. Oman Sea is expected to see waves rising to a maximum height of 1.5 metres and 1.25 metres along the rest of the coast.
