Muscat Festival to kick off on Jan 19

By Kabeer Yousuf — MUSCAT: Jan 14 - The annual convergence of culture, fun and gastronomic delights will see a colourful start on January 19 at two venues, Amerat Park and Naseem Park, according to a top Muscat Municipality official. The Muscat Festival, touted as a mirror reflecting Oman’s culture and tradition, is expected to attract more than a million visitors in the 24 days that it will run. “The mega event will be held from January 19 to February 11 and attract people from both within the country and outside,” said Ali al Hasani, Head of Muscat Festival.


“A special village dedicated to science, technology and knowledge along with the small and medium scale enterprises are some of the attractions this year,” he said, adding the festival will be a great entertainment for the entire family. The festival will have a Heritage Village, Dinosaurs Village and Family Village with participation from 11 community clubs in the Sultanate. It will see performances from popular folklore bands. Participation from government institutions and service associations is another attraction this time at Amerat Park. Naseem Park near Barka, which aims to attract people from interior regions, will focus on trade expo, family village and children’s theatre besides squares and theatre performances, laser and fireworks show, Jungle Village, illuminated village and others.
