Muscat: Similar wet weather conditions due to the prevailing low-pressure system will continue in the northern parts of Oman, including Muscat, said Oman Meteorology on Monday.

However, though heavy rains and thundershowers are expected by evening, intensity will be relatively less compared to Sunday, an official at Oman Met office told the Observer.

Many parts of the Sultanate received rains on Sunday. Most areas in the northern parts experienced influence of the trough. Musandam Governorate was the first to see thundershowers associated with fresh winds and hail in addition to areas of Sea of Oman coasts, Al Hajar Mountains and the adjoining areas.

The weather pattern will continue for two days, including Monday.

Due to the prevailing weather conditions in the wake of the latest low-pressure system, Muscat Festival venues at Amerat and Nassem Garden will be closed on Monday.

February 9 is the last day of Muscat Festival 2019.
