Students in Oman will have an opportunity to give back to nature by participating in the second season of the summer student workshop being put together by the Muscat Municipality through Bait al Baranda.

With this season’s slogan of ‘Khalak Akhdhar’ or ‘Go Green’, the goal of the programme is to strengthen the partnership of the municipality with the community and to build bonds of cooperation as well as promote intellectual and educational convergence.

Running for two weeks, from August 6 to 16, 2017, it is also an opportunity for the municipality to have direct participation in the development of children’s artistic talents while at the same time, raising in them awareness regarding afforestation and agriculture.

The workshop will include technical lessons in horticulture, as well as lectures on Omani plants. There will also be workshops on plant painting, landscaping, and recycling of the environmental raw materials and their use in afforestation.

The first week will be dedicated to the activities of world plants, while the second will be dedicated to landscaping and recycling activities.

The municipality hopes that through the launch of this season’s slogan, the same theme adopted from last year’s workshop, they would further promote early awareness among children their contribution to agriculture and the environment.

This year’s summer workshop is supported by the Diwan of the Royal Court represented in Oman Botanical Garden, Petroleum Development Oman, and Oman Oil Company.

A number of artists interested in afforestation and recycling will also be present in the workshop to assist and guide the participants and help meet the general objectives of the workshop.
