The Business Insider UK has identified Muscat among the 100 destinations everyone should “visit in their lifetime”. Muscat is the only city in the GCC to figure in this elite list the magazine spoke to around 20 top travel bloggers and travel editors or writers from travel publications such as Lonely Planet, Suitcase, and Airbnb to find out top five destinations as per their preferences.
Based on their feedback, it put out a list of 100 destinations everyone should visit in their lifetime.
Muscat has been ranked 58th in this list.
The Business Insider UK described that the capital is a must visit to “Experience the warm hospitality of Muscat’s locals in Oman”.
“As you walk the streets, you can’t help but notice the diversity of its residents,” said Dan Clarke, a community member at Passion Passport. “With an ever-growing international community, the food, stores and clothing shift from street to street. It feels safe and welcoming for a capital city. The smiles appear friendly, not forced.”
Topping the list (top 10) is mountain gorillas in Virunga National Park, Democratic Republic of Congo; followed by the ‘chocolate box fishing villages’ of Lofoten Islands, Norway; ‘pretend you’re on a desert island’ at Motu Tiapaa in Maupit; ‘sci-fi landscapes’ of Cappadocia, Turkey; camp in the Caucasus Mountains in Kazbegi, Georgia; Levi, Finland; have a stargazing sleepover in Tuvalu; nightlife scene in Accra, Ghana; world-renowned sunrise in Kiribati; and Babylon in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
