Muscat: Condensation of low clouds at night along the coastal area of Muscat, South Al Batinah and South Al Sharqiya brought in rains this morning especially in Al Koudh, Ruwi, Al Amerat and Al Khuwair.

“It was totally unexpected but it is beautiful weather,” said a resident from Ruwi.

“The low clouds led to scattered light rain mostly,” explained weather forecaster at Oman Met Office, adding, “During the day time there would still be some clouds but no rain due to the sun.  But towards night more cloud formations are expected and there are chances for rain at night and on Monday morning.”

According to weather forecaster the current rains have originated from the cold air in the atmosphere leading to the condensation of humidity that resulted in cloud formation and rain.

The weather is expected to continue the trend on Tuesday and will have a chance for clouds and rains.  Sea will continue to be rough due to the North Westerly wind in the coastal areas.

"It was a surprise to see rains in the morning although we had to encounter a soggy and slick morning drive to office", said Faisal Ahmed, a bank employee in Ruwi.

Many of the office-goers were out the door earlier than usual fearing traffic blockade due to waterlogging. But road conditions did not pose any kind of hardships except for some low-lying areas in the old city areas like Hamriya.

Parents were relieved that schools were closed for mid-year holidays.

“Children escaped from being drenched in the drizzle that brought chilly spill in the morning”, said Thomas Daniel, a parent in Ruwi.
