Muscat, Dec 24 - A new batch of Omanis will fill some jobs currently held by expatriates in the public health institutions. The Ministry of Health (MoH) has asked the Omani aspirants willing to work in advertised positions to apply in person between December 30 and January 10, 2019. Vacancies were announced for the positions of nutritionist, speech therapist and X-ray technician. The Shura Council committee had recently met some pharma graduates and assistants from private colleges who were seeking jobs. The committee learnt about the challenges the job-seekers were facing.

The job-seekers requested that results of interviews be announced for those who had successfully cleared them. Currently, the Omanisation ratio among the laboratory technicians at the Ministry of Health is 60 per cent as per the 2017 annual report. Omanisation has increased in all the medical and paramedical fields. For doctors, it stands at 38 per cent in 2017 as against 9 per cent in 1990. For nurses, it was 62 per cent as against 12 per cent. Omanisation among doctors, dentists, pharmacists and nurses reached 55 per cent in 2017 as against 54 per cent in 2016.
