Saudi Arabia's Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was elevated to crown prince on Wednesday, replacing his cousin in an announcement made on Wednesday. A royal decree said Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef was relieved of all positions and replaced by Mohammed bin Salman who becomes deputy prime minister and retains defense, oil and other portfolios.

The agency noted that the orders also ruled the appointment of Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as Minister of Interior instead of Abdulrahman bin Ali Al-Rabian and appointment of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Salem as Deputy Minister of Interior with the rank of Minister. Royal orders were issued by appointing Abdulrahman bin Ali Al-Rubaian as an adviser to the Royal Court.
