MUSCAT: The Ministry of Health (MoH), in collaboration with various organisations, recently conducted a National Survey of Non-Communicable Diseases and Tobacco, as well as a National Survey of Nutrition by visiting select households in every governorate. The survey was aimed at creating a health database relating to non-communicable diseases for families and individuals, especially for those in the age group 15 years and above. It was also aimed at creating a database relating to nutrition of families and individuals, especially children under five years and women in reproductive age (15 to 49 years).

A specialised team is currently visiting households with questionnaires to be filled in by the family members. The survey requires obtaining the

blood samples of some children and women. Meanwhile, the Studies & Research Center will conduct a National Survey of Non-Communicable Diseases and Tobacco from February to April 2017. MoH has called upon everyone to cooperate with the teams to provide the required data.
