MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) signed a programme for technical cooperation in the field of standards.
The programme was signed by Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Dr Ali bin Saud al Bimani, SQU Vice-Chancellor.
The programme, which enhances the existing cooperation, comes in a bid to facilitate sharing of information, studying issues, improving quality of products, ensuring citizens’ health and safety, protecting environment and exchanging experiences in fields related to developing standards.
It also comes in a bid to benefit from the experience in issuing confirmation certificates, accreditation procedures, quality management system and metrology.
The programme comes within the framework of coordination for participation at the international arenas related to standardisation as per the law and regulation in force taking into consideration the international and regional commitment towards the fields covered by this programme. — ONA
