MoCI seminar on importance of industrial survey today

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) will organise today at the Sheraton Hotel a seminar on the importance of industrial survey of industrial establishments under the patronage of Ahmed bin Hassan al Theeb, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The seminar will be attended by 100 participants from government agencies, the private sector and students of universities and colleges. Saleh bin Mahmoud al Zadjali, Director of Industrial Information Department, at the Directorate-General of Industry in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said that the seminar aims at highlighting the importance of industrial information and inviting industrialists to provide accurate information to the industrial data collector during the industrial survey.


He added that the seminar will discuss a number of working papers. The first paper will discuss industrial performance and competitiveness. The second paper reviews the international recommendations of industrial statistics. The third paper presents the concepts of national accounts and data sources. The fourth paper is entitled “Industrial Survey in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry”. The last paper will be on how to use technology in data collection. It is worth mentioning that MoCI annually carries out industrial survey in various governorates of the Sultanate to list the industrial establishments operating in the Sultanate in order to provide an integrated database on the industrial sector. — ONA
