MUSCAT: Sayyid Adil bin Al mardas al Busaidy, adviser of tourism affairs, along with senior officials and specialists at the Ministry of Tourism received and met with a delegation from the Association of European Journalists (AEJ), who are currently visiting the Sultanate on an invitation from the Omani Journalists Association (OJA). The meeting highlighted the efforts made by the Ministry of Tourism to promote and develop the tourism sector based on the tourism strategy.
Under which the Ministry aims to provide high-quality products and services within the tourism sector, while preserving the nation’s authentic Omani identity and natural resources, as they play an important role in defining the Sultanate, as well as assures one and all that the Sultanate’s culture and natural environment is not being destroyed by tourism-related factors.
Additionally, Oman’s national tourism strategy 2040 was highlighted, which takes in to account measures that will help develop Omani tourism further, sustainability, the in-vestment within this sector that will serve the Sultanate’s governorates, and seek to attract 11 million local and international tourists by 2040.
The delegation was also introduced to the Sultanate’s most important tourism markets that are being targeted and the several Omani tourism products that are being offered to these markets.
Nidal Shoukir, the Head of the Association of European Journalists (AEJ), delegation expressed the vital role played by meetings of this nature in promoting the Sultan-ate in the European media in particular as well as the world media at large.
He also mentioned how meeting of this nature will help in facilitating investment opportunities to the Sultanate, which is characterised by its geographical location, and unique natural resources, as well as historical and cultural heritage components, which make the sultanate a viable investment option and attract tourists from all over the world. Shoukir expressed his interest towards increasing the cooperation between the Sultanate and the Association of European Journalists (AEJ) in all fields, particularly in the tourism sector at the meeting.
Enquiries from journalists who were representing a number of well-known European media houses were answered during the meeting.
The questions focused on the crucial integrated tourism projects, tourism visas, as well as the development of the ports and airports in the Sultanate.
