MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmood al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, has reaffirmed the top significance of the annual meeting between the Council of Ministers and the Council of Oman, describing it as “a successful and fruitful meeting”. In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) and the Public Authority for Radio and Television, HH Sayyid Fahd said that the meeting gives a clear picture about the nature of issues of concern to members of the two councils. “We have listened to many issues and we will form ministerial groups (to follow them up)”, said HH Sayyid Fahd, noting that these groups will go on visits to the country’s governorates and get first-hand knowledge of the steps to be taken.

HH Sayyid Fahd pointed out that all officials act from the great attention accorded by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos to cooperation among the different state institutions, “since we live in a changing world and have to somehow adapt ourselves to it”. Other establishments will organise similar committees that will visit parts of the Sultanate’s governorates to study the nature of issues raised there from time to time, he added. HH Sayyid Fahd praised the role of the Sultanate’s information sector in advancing the comprehensive development march. He expressed his confidence and appreciation for all efforts exerted by the Omani media, saying, “We take pride in Omani information which represents balance and moderation that has earned the commendation of all parties.”

Meanwhile, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, said that this meeting (between the Council of Ministers and the Council of Oman) came as an embodiment of the thought of His Majesty the Sultan who has always underscored the role of the “State Institutions”.

Sayyid Khalid pointed out that the meeting opens up wide vistas for a rapprochement of views and that it has become “a Royal tradition espoused by the Council of Ministers for years and undoubtedly would bear fruits”.

Speaking about the Sultanate’s winning both world cups of photography in the 39th Youth Biennial 2018, (organised by FIAP), the Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court described the success as a tremendous achievement made in a record short time since the 2012 foundation of Oman Photographic Society.

This, he said, is another evidence of the attention accorded by the Sultanate’s government to photography and the high rate of positive response of Omani youth to participation in such events.

State Council Chairman Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri said in a statement that the joint meeting with the Council of Ministers reflects the keenness of the government of His Majesty the Sultan in serving the citizens.

“We always find cooperation from the Council of Ministers,” said Dr Al Mantheri, noting that coordination committees between the Council of Ministers and the Council of Oman have a duty to convey an honest message and reflect the keenness of all to implement the directives of His Majesty the Sultan.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura Shaikh Khalid bin Hilal al Maawali said that Majlis Ash’shura “is enlightened by the wise vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos”. He underlined the significance of the joint meeting between the government and bicameral bodies of the Council of Oman. — ONA
