Mining as source of national income focus of conference

MUSCAT, Oct 8 - Four hundred experts from more than 25 countries will engage in brainstorming sessions, lectures and knowledge-sharing activities at the two-day ‘Mining Investment Middle East & Central Asia’ Conference, which is due to begin at Sheraton Muscat on Monday.


Experts, ministers, representatives of mining companies, investors and service providers from all over Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe and North America will discuss on ways to help support the national drive towards empowering the mining sector as an alternative source of national income.


“Global experts in mining and allied activities are here to share their expertise and help the nation explore new avenues in mining,” Ng Chin Chye, Director (Marketing & Public Relations) at Spire Events, Singapore, the powerhouse behind the conference, told the Observer.


The conference, in its second edition now, has gained a name as “a strategic mining conference and exhibition for the leaders of the mining, quarrying and construction materials industries”.


A senior official at Ithra will deliver an investment address titled ‘Promoting Foreign Investments in Oman’s Economy — A Look at the Natural Resources, Metals and Construction Materials Sectors’, followed by the keynote address by Nicholas Assef, Founder and Executive Director, LCC Asia Pacific, Australia on ‘Analysing Deal Activity, Capital Flows & Valuations in the Resources & Resource Services Sectors’.


Fatemah Daneshvar, Managing Director, Sayahan Sepehr Asia Company, Iran, will be sharing the stage with Dean Cunningham, CEO, Kunooz Oman Holding, Oman; and Henry Antwi, Commercial and Technical Advisor, Mining Development Oman; along with Nicholas Assef at the Middle East’s mining forum for innovation, ideas, knowledge-sharing, networking and business matching.
