MGS cooking competition enthralls audience

Muscat Gujarati Samaj, Gujarati Wing of the Indian Social Club Oman came up with yet another scintillating event in the form of a unique Golden Grain Cooking Competition, giving a wonderful platform to its members for displaying their widely popular culinary skills.


The event witnessed active and enthusiastic participation from MGS Members, aptly living up to the reputation of Gujarati ladies possessing excellent culinary skills amongst the various other talents.


The event also showcased live demonstrations by renowned cook, Ekta Patel of two her favorite, lip smacking dishes. The live demonstrations were televised live on the screen to enable the audience to take a close view of the intricacies of fine cooking.


But it was the enthusiastic participation that stole the limelight. Each participant had put in tremendous creativity and efforts behind conceptualizing and executing the preparation of the delectable delicacies of their choice that left the judges & audience in a state of awe, looking at the presentations of each one of them. Understandably so, the judges who themselves were stalwarts in the in the field of cooking (Sujata Sheikh, Ami Toprani & Sanjeev Thakur) faced an extremely daunting task in selecting the final winners in all the two categories of the cooking competition, namely Savoury & Sweet.


Amidst stiff competition, in the Sweets category, Pankti Ramaiya took the 1st Prize, followed by Jignyasu Divyes in the 2nd Position, Vaidehi Gandhi in the 3rd position and Shivani Sheth in the 4th position. In the Savoury category, the 1st prize went to Khushboo Joshi, 2nd Position to Leena Trivedi, 3rd Position to Kajal Shah and 4th position went to Deepa Bhatani. The 1st prize winners got a gold coin, followed by high-value home appliance for the 2nd, 3rd & 4th position winners. Prizes were given away by Mrs Neeru Toprani, Mr Rajendra Ved and Miss Nilofer Tanna & Mr Sushil Jani.


The event was held at the wonderful the Al Bahja Hall near Jungle Restaurant in Qurum and was witnessed by hardcore cookery enthusiasts as well as supportive family members of the participants.
