MEDC launches electricity consumption campaign

MUSCAT: Muscat Electricity Distribution Company — a member of the Nama Group — represented by the Department of Communication and Sustainability launched an awareness campaign to rationalise the consumption of electricity in schools throughout Muscat Governorate. This campaign includes awareness lectures and student competitions which aim to educate younger generation about the importance of electric energy and the need of electricity preservation at home and school.


The electricity rationing campaign organised by the Muscat Electricity Distribution Company recently started at Al Seeb International Private School with the participation of number of students (the first and the second grades) and the presence of the teaching committee.


The focus of this campaign is on school students as they are the cornerstone on which this nation is built and their awareness of the importance of energy, the need to preserve it and the culture of rationalisation of consumption in their behaviour to harvest the results in the near future.


Muscat Electricity Distribution Company pays great attention to the field of rationalisation and instilling this culture among the school students through continuous awareness programmes through various channels such as meetings, lectures, publications, media and various electronic publishing methods.


It is worth mentioning that the company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the General Directorate of Education in Muscat Governorate, which included preparing a timetable for offering lectures to school students in Muscat Governorate.
