MCBS hosts ‘English for work environment course’ for OCC

MUSCAT: The Centre for Graduate and Professional Studies (CGPS) at the Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) welcomed the management and employees of Oman Cement Company to celebrate the completion of ’English for Work Environment’ course.


English for Work Environment is a course that has been specially designed by MCBS English language experts for professionals working in the corporate sector.


It is offered by the centre for graduate and professional studies along with a number of other English courses that are tailor-made for adult learners to equip them with the necessary English language skills that would help them in their career development and increase their employability and job prospects.


In addition to English for Work Environment, the centre offers English for continuing education, IELTS preparation course and test, IATA, and a range of other specialised short courses.


This successful collaboration between MCBS and OCC is in its second year and is marked by the OCC employees continuing their study in an upper-level course starting this month, as well as the design of another course, English for engineering, to address the language requirements of OCC engineers.


Prof Ahmed al Numani, Dean of the College, welcomed the audience emphasising the importance of the cooperation between OCC and MCBS. He added that he is very pleased to see that the industry is aware of the importance of the English language in developing their human resources.


Aleksandra Minic, who designed and delivered English for Work Environment, addressed her students by saying how proud she is to see them improve and take charge of their educational development. She also thanked Hilal al Dhamri, Senior Production Manager in OCC, for supporting the education and professional development of the employees at OCC.
