RIYADH: Oman’s Marwan al Khanjari thrashed third seed Saudi Arabia’s Ibrahim Alswaidan 6-1, 6-1 to enter the semifinals of boys singles in the Asian Under-14 tennis tournament in Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh. In the first round, Marwan beat Saudi Arabia’s Ghannam Alghannam 6-0, 6-1. Marwan will take on Saudi Arabia’s Mohammad Saadeddin in the semifinals. Saadeddin beat compatriot Bader Idrees 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 to make it to the last four. In the U-14 doubles, Marwan and partner Anshuman Sonawane of India beat Suliman Almusfer (KSA) and Kamran Khan (KSA) 6-1, 6-0 in the first round but lost to Saudi pair in the second round. Top seeds Mohammed Jassim Aljuzari and Qassim Alobaidan beat the Omani-Indian pair 6-2, 6-2.
