Marfal wins Ministry’s Shield as endurance season ends

The horse Marfal ridden by jockey Abdulhameed bin Ali al Balushi and owned by Ahmed bin Salim al Balushi has won the Ministry of Sports Affairs’ shield at the conclusion of the international endurance riding competitions, season 2017-2018.


The winning horse finished the race in 3 hours and 53 minutes.


The concluding ceremony was presided over by Sayyid Munthir bin Saif bin Hamad al Busaidy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Equestrian Federation (OEF).


Organised by the Oman Equestrian Federation with the support of Zubair Corporation, the race was held at the Endurance Racing Village of Al Rahba Farm in Barka and saw the participation of horses from various governorates of the Sultanate but only.


Out of 31 horses, 10 horses managed to make it to the finish line of the race in the general local category, four horses out of eight passed the 40-km qualifying race and 9 horses out of 17 passed the 80-km qualifying race.


Meanwhile, the 2017-2018 Dressage season will conclude on Monday at the Al Rahba Farm in Barka under the auspices of Dr Sarhan bin Salim al Zaidy, Director-General of the Royal Cavalry of Oman.
