The murder of an elderly Omani man, allegedly by his wife, 22, and her step-son, 22, has sent shockwaves in the Wilayat of Suhar, North Al Batinah Governorate.
The victim’s body was recovered from Saham industrial area, after which the Royal Oman Police (ROP), represented by Directorate of Criminal Investigations of North Al Batinah, arrested the suspects on Monday.
The case is being investigated, said an ROP official. After completion of the probe, suspects will be referred to the Public Prosecution for trial.
In a similar case that came to light in Suhar recently, two brothers were arrested for murdering their uncle and disposing of his body in the sea. The killers later confessed to the crime, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations of North Al Batinah.
In July, a mentally ill Omani man was killed by his brother, assisted by his father, in Maabela, Muscat Governorate. The father-son duo was charged with mowing down
the victim on the first day of Eid al Fitr.
The ROP has urged citizens and residents to report any illegal or suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
