By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: May 17 - One person died and another critically injured when they fell into a sewage pit on Al Khuwair area on Tuesday. According to the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA), it took intense operations to save the person and get the body out. PACDA urged contractors to take adequate safety measures during maintenance works as such incidents continue to occur. In April, a worker died in Ibra after he was trapped inside a pit following a water pipeline burst. The Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) held the contractor responsible for violations. In another incident, fire in a number of caravans were put out by fire-fighters in the Ghala Industrial Area. There were no reports of any injuries.
