Muscat, Feb 24 -

Hailstorms and rains are likely in many parts of Oman starting from Sunday, according to the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre at the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA).

“The latest weather analysis shows the Sultanate will be affected by a trough of low pressure for a few days starting from Sunday,” said a statement.

It said rainfall and occasional thunderstorms associated with fresh wind and hail are expected over Musandam and extend to North and South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah, and North and South Al Sharqiyah.

The sea state in the Sea of Oman and in Musandam is expected to be rough, authorities have warned, with waves reaching a maximum height of 2.5 metres.
