Criterium: Team Sky’s Polish rider Michal Kwiatkowski regained the overall lead in the Criterium du Dauphine on Wednesday, after his team won the third stage team time trial by 37 seconds ahead of former champions BMC Racing.

Team Sky’s overall time at the end of the stage between Pont-de-Vaux and Louhans-Chateaurenaud was 27 hours, 12 minutes and nine seconds. They were 56 seconds ahead of BMC.

Kwiatkowski, who began the day two seconds behind Mitchelton-Scott’s Daryl Impey after a crash on Tuesday, leads with an overall time of nine hours, 28 minutes and 21 seconds. He was three seconds ahead of Italian team-mate Gianni Moscon.

The 181-kilometre fourth stage on Thursday will see riders head into the mountains between Chazey-sur-Ain and Lans-en-Vercors.

The Dauphine is the main warm-up race for the July 7-29 Tour de France.
