The Koenigsegg Agera RS has broken the world land speed record for production vehicles, with an average speed of 447.23 km (277.9 miles) per hour in a Nevada highway. The world’s fastest drone set a record of 179.6 miles per hour, beating the Tesla Model S, though the Lucid Air is faster at 378.19 km (235 miles) per hour. However, these speeds don’t hold a candle to the hypercar that is the Koenigsegg Agera RS. Koenigsegg closed an 17.7 km (11-mile) stretch of Nevada’s Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump in its world land speed record attempt for a production vehicle. The state’s Department of Transportation granted a special permit for the event, which took more than a year to plan. The Swedish automobile manufacturer’s efforts were not in vain though, as the Koenigsegg Agera RS successfully broke the record that was previously held by Bugatti. The previous record was 431.30 km (268 miles) per hour, held by Bugatti which achieved the speed in 2010.
