Celebrations and festivities are another way of enjoying life and its blessings with family and loved ones. Through different occasions, we share joyous moments with family, relatives, friends, colleagues or neighbours.

Being in a mood of celebration refreshes our minds and spirits, strengthens relations with others and helps break the daily routine of life.

For that reason, there is a need to get into a celebration mood every now and then while we are busy with our daily routine. Even if there is no occasion to observe or commemorate, having good moments will refresh us, our minds and spirits.

Attending gatherings with your loved ones will help you become more relaxed and encourage you to do more, especially at work.

We already have certain celebrations booked on our calendar, some of which are annual while others are just occasional. What we are sure of is that moments of enjoyment are always welcomed and well-received by people.

Among the yearly occasions we celebrate is the Eid Al Fitr, which falls in the tenth month of the Islamic calendar. This Eid is being celebrated after completion of the Holy Ramadan. Eid comes as a gift from the Almighty Allah to all Muslims for completing the 30 days of fasting.

Celebrating Eid is a way of thanking Allah for enabling us complete this religious obligation.

Eid Al Fitr is a happy celebration for all Muslims — children, adults and elderly, both men and women alike. Regardless of their age and gender, you see people in the same neighbourhood exchanging greetings with one another from morning or from the time it’s announced that the next day would be Eid. It becomes a common celebration for all.

On this day, people get together and become more welcoming as well as forgiving. They get closer regardless of their social and personal differences.

They all comes together to start a new chapter of life after Ramadan, the month of giving and forgiveness. As a matter of fact, the day is a sacred gift from Allah in which people come together.

The day is eagerly awaited by children who enjoy the Eid more than the adults and the elderly. For children, Eid is a day of joy and entertainment as they wear new, traditional costumes.

They long for the monetary gifts they receive from parents, relatives, siblings and others. For them, it’s a day of receiving gifts and money.

As Eid Al Fitr is a religious celebration, Muslims mark the day by performing a special prayer to Thank Allah for enabling them complete the fasting and for designating this day as a day of happiness for all Muslims worldwide.

They perform prayers collectively early morning in masjids or outdoors. After the prayers, they exchange greetings as well as visit friends and relatives.

Eid Al Fitr celebration mirrors a number of Islamic principles and morals that Muslims all around the world share regardless of their origin, language or country.

The day is observed by Muslims in the same way in any part of the world. It’s a day of integrity, mercy and empathy.

Hope you all had a happy and prosperous Eid with family and loved ones.
