Jatinder, Badal star in Muscat CT victory

MUSCAT: Jatinder Singh’s superb 71 and Badal Singh’s four-wicket spell steered Muscat CT to a thrilling two-wicket win over Enhance CT in the first match of the Premier Division at the Ministry of Sports grassy ground 1 on Saturday.


Jatinder was involved in a crucial 89-run 5th wicket partnership with skipper Vaibhav Wategaokar who started the season with a stylish 50 off 70 balls.


The duo stabilised the Muscat innings after Enhance had reduced them to 57 for three in 12.1 overs. Jatinder’s 86-ball innings included 5 fours and 3 sixes.


With wickets tumbling at regular intervals, Sandeep Goud held his nerves to script a solid 33 off 56 balls to bring Muscat closer to victory. In the end it took Rajesh Runpura just one ball to strike a boundary and secure an exciting first win for his side. Mehran Khan, Nester Dhamba and Sanuth Mohammed Ibrahim all claimed two wickets each.


Earlier opener Khawar Ali led the batting honours for Enhance with a fighting 41 off 58 balls, five of them going to the fence. He was involved in a solid fourth-wicket partnership with young Wasim Ali who scored a subdued 27 in his Premier League debut.


Mehran Khan played a typical cameo of 37 studded with 3 sixes. Nestor Dhamba 38 off 42) and Ibrahim Kutty (31 off 38) played gutsy knocks to take Enhance to a respectable total despite Badal Singh’s heroics with the ball.

Muscat bowlers were guilty of conceding 17 extras, 12 of them being wide balls. Enhance did not lag behind, conceding 16 extras including 4 wides and 4 no balls.

Faizal stars in Renaissance win


Renaissance made a winning start to the season, beating Muscat Projects and Environment by 40 runs thanks to a match-winning spell (5 for 41) by captain Faizal Jerome Mohammed in their 50-over A Division game at Ministry of Sports grassy ground 1 on


Friday.


Batting first after winning the toss, Renaissance found the going tough and kept losing wickets at regular interval before being all out for 161 in 42.1 overs.


Opener Fernando (37), Ashan Dinura (36) were the only notable scorers. Kadankot took three wickets for 27 runs while Vijesh Channengadan claimed two wickets for 23.


Muscat Project could not offer much of a resistance, capitulating for a lowly 121 all out in 34.1 overs. Faizal led the bowling honours, claiming five wickets in his spell of 10 overs, two of which were maiden, giving away just 41 runs. Amit Eranda (2 for 28) and Ashan Dinura (2 for 16) bowled well too.

Faizal Jerome Mohammed 5-41, Ashan Dinura 2-16 and Amit Eranda 2-28).


Mahmood lifts FAP UTSC past ISC


Mahmood’s all-round display led FAP UTSC to an easy 65-run win against Indian Social Club (ISC) who were shot out for just 81 runs in a low-scoring 30-over B Division match at Municipality ground 1.


Mahmood was the leading scorer with a fighting 44 as FAP UTSC could compile only 146 before being all out in 26.2 overs. Sherif Mohammed (25) Fahad Mohammad (23 not out) and Shameer Kariadan (21) were the other batsmen who scored in the double figures. Chethan Mallya claimed three wickets for 21 runs while Puneet Singh (3 for 24) and Shrey Wilson (2 for 32) also bowled well.


ISC failed to chase even a small total and were bowled out for a meagre 81 in just 17.3 overs. Chethan Mallya, batting at number 9, topscored with 19.


Brief scores: FAP UTSC 146 all out in 26.2 overs (Mahmood 44 – 4x4, Sherif Mohammed 25 – 4x4, Fahad Mahammed 23 – 5x4, Shameer Kariadan 21 – 3x4. Chethan Mallya 3-21, Puneet Singh 3-24, Shrey Wilson 2-25) beat Indian Social Club 81 all out in 17.3 overs (Chethan Mallya 19 – 3x4. Mahmood 4-22, Shameer Kariadan 3-30, Faleel 2-03).


STS trounce RAY


Two superb match-winning performances by by Krunal Kishor Ahay and captain Vikas Bhadoria helped STS Tebodin register an impressive 52-run victory against Rukun Al Yaqeen RAY) in a 20-over D Division game at Municipality 2 ground.


Batting first STS posted a respectable total of 159 for 4 in their quota of 20 overs, thanks to fluent knocks by Krunal (63) and Vikas (54) who were involved in a 98-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Tajamal bowled well to claim three wickets for 32 runs.


Rukun Al Yaqeen’s chase never got going as they kept losing wickets and finally folded up for just a disappointing 107 in 18.2 overs. Imran scored a run a ball 28.


Krunal Kishor was the main wicket-taker in his four-over spell of three wickets for 23 runs. Vikas Bhadoria claimed two wickets for just 8 runs while Alpesh (2 for 16 and Thirumavalavan (2 for 10) bowled well too.
