The logistics sector plays a key role in Oman’s economic diversification, and in response to this, Ithraa, Oman’s investment promotion and export development agency, and Asyad the government company established as the logistics investment arm and implements the national logistics strategy, signed an MoU on Tuesday designed to strengthen efforts to support the sultanate’s growing logistics sector.

The Ithraa-Asyad MoU is committed to promoting Oman as a destination for logistics businesses and the growth and development of the sultanate’s logistics sector.

It reflects the desire and commitment of both organisations to share information and know-how, capacity build, and work together to present Oman’s excellent connectivity and dynamic logistics offer to a broader and deeper international audience.

“During the course of the last year, we have established a closer working relationship with Asyad particularly through Ithraa’s Invest in Oman roadshows in Europe and Asia.

Together, we intend to show how Oman can respond to all the requirements of expanding logistics and distribution businesses,” explained Nasima al Balushi, Ithraa’s Director General of Investment Promotion & Export Development

Ithraa’s Director General added: “We have the infrastructure in place, the transport connections, planning and investment support from government, excellent recruitment and training services from local colleges and the full range of ancillary services from local businesses to support our growing logistics sector. We have one of the Gulf’s best logistics propositions and together we will be taking that message to potential inward investors worldwide.”

Nabil al Bimani, Executive Director, Asyad explained “Today, Oman has world-class infrastructure and processes. These achievements did not happen by chance, they are the result of tremendous efforts from various organisations in the public sector and extensive engagement with the private sector.

In this regard, the Asyad-Ithraa MoU represents a key piece of the jigsaw in terms of promoting Oman’s logistics offer to investors globally.”
