MUSCAT: The Information Technology Authority (ITA) continues its online marketing campaign for its social media channels.

The campaign addresses some government e-services to encourage the community to use them to facilitate their needs. The ITA is highlighting the Private Work Permit Service by Ministry of Manpower (MoMP).

The campaign is carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Manpower through the social media accounts of both entities.

It is also featured by a promotional video that encourages the use of the e-services, in addition to some marketing materials, surveys and stories shared through these channels.

The Ministry of Manpower has issued new updates in the individual private work permit service in which the citizens do not have to attach any documents when applying for the service as the approval and authorisation will be obtained automatically without any human intervention on 7/24.

This is only for the employees registered in the Civil Service Employees Pension Fund and Public Authority for Social Insurance as the data of these two entities are integrated with the Ministry of Manpower System. Moreover, the system is also integrated with the ROP Civil Status for the proof of social status data needed for the service.

The Electronic work permits system is part of a series of e-services provided by the ministry, in order to keep abreast of the digital transformation project, which contributes to increasing productivity and accuracy in completing transactions and reducing the number of visitors to the ministry.

Users of the work permits system can access the ministry’s website www.manpower.gov.om and request a private workforce.

The service enables users of the system to upload required documents, in addition to paying fees and finally receiving the permit online.

In order to use the services of the Ministry of Manpower, users can access electronically using two ways.

The first one using their ID card that should contain digital certification obtained from the ROP Civil Status Centres while the second way is the mobile sim card containing digital certification service, which is provided by the telecommunication companies in Oman (Omantel and Ooredoo).

The Mobile PKI can be authenticated through the website www.oman.om.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Manpower, the total number of electronic permits approved and paid electronically since the beginning of the implementation of the system in 2015 and until now 371,353 private work permits registered electronically distributed across all the governorates of the Sultanate.

Muscat Governorate registered the highest number of permits 113,345, then North Al Batinah Governorate by 66,420.

The number of permits in the other governorate are distributed as follows:

Al Dakhiliyah Governorate 32,157), South Al Sharqiyah 32,310), Dhofar Governorate 29,023, South Al Batinah 27,861, North Al Sharqiyah 26,849, Al Dhahirah Governorate 24,167, Al Buraimi Governorate 11,962, Al Wusta Governorate 4,698, and Musandam Governorate 2,561.

The Ministry of Manpower has achieved excellence in the digital transformation projects and it is one of the leading government entities in this regard.

The ministry has implemented the electronic work permit service to reduce the number of visitors to the ministry, and eliminate the multiplicity of files and documents of auditors and beneficiaries of the service and facilitate the procedure for service applicants who can submit their requests at any time, place and around the clock.
