InstOG launches Accelerated Training Programme

InstOG, Oman’s Oil & Gas training institute, has commenced the first instalment of its Accelerated Training Programme. The programme is committed to empowering careers and contributing in-country value by accelerating career growth, developing existing Omani talent and investing in Oman’s Geoscience and Engineering communities.


As many as 22 students from leading companies which include OCCEP, OXY, CCED and Daleel enrolled for the 3-year programme, designed to prepare Omani Petro-Technical Professionals for new roles by enhancing capabilities and knowledge. The programme delivers world-class Oil & Gas training in the upstream disciplines of Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering, Drilling and well site Engineering.


The curriculum itself is designed and customised in collaboration with NExT — Schlumberger’s training provider and with Oman’s key oil production companies. The Accelerated Training Programme delivers a well balanced approach with training, field visits, and on-the job learning objectives to prepare professionals with real world experience.


InstOG is a joint venture between Takatuf Oman and Schlumberger Oman, a first of its kind in the region. As a learning centre InstOG combines over 70 years of training expertise and history of Schlumberger with the state-of-the-art subsurface learning technologies to equip engineers and geoscientists to develop, optimise and sustain oil & gas resources. Located at Innovation Park Muscat (IPM), InstOG’s facilities offer the latest technology, including drilling simulators and virtual reality technology that replicates the real work environment on site.


InstOG’s Accelerated Training Programme aims to enable and enhance the careers and learnings of its students with some of the best training, technologies and expertise in the region.
