Initiative to achieve safe school environment

By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: Dec. 4: With a view to create a healthy and safe school environments, Xeem — Fatma Al Riyami Management Consultancy, an incubated company at the National Business Centre which pertains to the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), in cooperation with Early Intervention Centre, has introduced an initiative titled ‘My School is Safe’. The initiative aims to make Oman’s schools safe, supportive and promote student wellbeing.


This move comes in line with Early Intervention Centre’s commitment where new improvements have been introduced to enhance the centre climate, ensure higher safety standards, and support children achievement through the ‘My School is Safe’ initiative.


Fatma al Riyami, CEO of Xeem — Fatma Al Riyami Management Consultancy and initiative founder, said: “We are highly honoured to work with the Early Intervention Centre. Their activeness and commitment to take part in our initiative has inspired us further in exploring good practices invested to improve the safety standards in our schools. We further urge all schools to take the lead and encourage life building practices besides making schools safer.”


‘My School is Safe’ initiative was supported by Early Intervention Centre and had opened the opportunity for Xeem to contribute in providing solutions to ensure safe school environment at its highest standards.


The programme was launched through implementing series of assessments carried out against HSE good practices. The programme then concluded with a comprehensive report of findings and recommendations shared with the Centre. Subsequently, the centre attended to the recommendations and applied action steps towards improving school safety with goals to safeguard the children as its top priority.


On her part, Sabah al Bahlani, CEO of Early Intervention Centre, pointed out: “As educators and caretakers, we are all bound by a sacred trust to safeguard the well-being, safety, and extraordinary potential of the children that we serve in the centre.


“We support children from birth to 6 years, who are at risk or disabled, with a comprehensive early intervention programme that covers rehabilitation, social, psychological, daily life skill and therapeutic services; and it is necessary for us to continue to assess our centre in order to further create a positive school environment and keeping our children safe.”


Malak al Shaibani, Director-General of the National Business Centre, said: “We are pleased to see such initiatives from our incubated SMEs calling for such noble cause and a social responsible programme, evidently such initiatives reflect positive role of SMEs in engaging and designing programmes addressing community issues and needs with high impact.”
