Industrial survey continues

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), represented by the Directorate-General for Industry, continues the annual industrial survey, which was launched in August 2016 in different governorates to survey the industrial establishments in the Sultanate. The survey includes industrial establishments whose investment cost is more than RO 5,000 and the number of workers is more than 9. The survey covers the private sector’s industrial establishments as of the end of the fiscal year 2015.


Faiza bint Hamad al Mesharfiyah, Director of Industrial Information Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said that the survey includes 908 industrial establishments, 41 per cent of which in the Governorate of Muscat and 18 per cent in the Governorate of North Al Batinah. 79 per cent of the survey in the Governorate of Muscat has been completed compared to 77 per cent in the Governorate of North Al Batinah and 47 per cent at the other governorates.


She added that the aim of this annual industrial survey is to provide an updated and integrated database on the industrial sector in the Sultanate and generate data in developing development plans, policies and programmes.
