Indian woman’s body to be airlifted from Muscat

Shareefa Begum, 65, from the Indian state of Teleganna, died due to heart attack onboard a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight SV744 while travelling from Jeddah, accompanied by close relatives, after performing Umrah.


The Hyderabad-bound flight had a scheduled departure time from Jeddah at 8.15am. The pilot made an emergency landing in the Muscat airport following the incident.


“A no objection certificate for airlifting the mortal remains of Shareefa Begum has been issued and the formalities are yet to be completed,” the embassy said.


The relatives who were accompanying her are staying in Majan Hotel in Muscat.


Amjed Ullah Khan, a politician from Teleganna been following up the matter with the concerned authorities in Oman, India, Saudi Arabia to speed up the repatriation formalities.
