Ice making unit opens in Majees village

SUHAR: The Fisheries Development Department in the Wilayat of Suhar, in cooperation with the Local Committee for Sea Traditions, on Sunday opened ice making unit in Majees village under the auspices of Dr Hamad bin Said al Oufi, Under-Secretary for Fisheries at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. The unit was financed by Majees Industrial Services Company.
Abdullatif bin Mohammed al Balushi, Director of Fish Development Department in Suhar, in his speech pointed out that the integrated electrical unit, connected to a main control room and a room for storing ice, will produce 10 tonnes of ice per day keeping up high standards. The production will meet the needs of fishermen in Majees and nearby villages in the Wilayat of Suhar.
The event included a presentation on the project. The participants and the public and private stakeholders involved in the implementation of the project were honoured.
The ceremony was attended by Shaikh Muhanna bin Saif al Lamki, Governor of North Al Batinah, members of Majlis Ash’shura, walis, shaikhs and dignitaries. — ONA
