Hundreds of opportunities up for grabs as SQU job fair opens

CAREER FAIR: 68 establishments, 279 jobs and 199 training offers for graduates  -


MUSCAT: The Career and Training Opportunities Fair 2018, organised by the Centre for Career Guidance at Sultan Qaboos University, commenced on Monday under the auspices of Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Health.


This year, 68 private and public sector institutions are offering 279 jobs and 199 training opportunities for graduates.


The fair aims to provide jobs and training opportunities for SQU students and graduates through strengthening the relationship between the university and different employment sectors and introduce SQU various academic programmes to the participating organisations.


The three-day event targets university graduates looking for job opportunities and training opportunities, university students on the outskirts of the university seeking job opportunities, university students looking for training opportunities, and new university students to learn about the job market.


The participating institutions were selected according to certain rules and standards, the most important of which are the number of job and training opportunities offered by these institutions to the university’s outputs.


The criteria also includes the quality of the jobs offered and the necessity of their suitability for the specialisations presented at the faculties of the university.


A special services and support centre has been set up for institutions


wishing to conduct job interviews during the exhibition days and an awareness section helps students and graduates


raise their awareness to plan a successful career.


The fair is expected to attract a large number of university students and graduates looking for job opportunities and training. It will continue until March 7, from 9 am to 04:30 pm.


This year’s exhibition seeks to strengthen the relationship between the university and the various sectors of the business and industry, and market the outputs of the university, introduce the work sectors to the university’s various academic programmes, and act as a link between university students and business sectors.


The Career Fair also supports the nation’s efforts and the plans of Omanisation in different career sectors, and teach the graduates and students about the opportunities for employment and training available, progressing in their respective fields, introduce students to different work environments and requirements, and raise their professional awareness.
