Housing plot allotments grow by 12.8 per cent

MUSCAT: The Ministry of Housing has allotted a total of 32,876 residential plots across the Sultanate till the end of November 2018, which is an increase of 12.77 per cent over the same period last year. Among various governorates, residential housing plot allotments in the Governorate Al Dakhiliyah registered the highest, with about 7,933 plots were allotted in Al Dakhiliyah during the January-November period of 2018, up by 1.5 per cent, compared to 7,816 plots in the same period of 2017. Residential plot allotments were the lowest in the Governorate of Musandam, with just 13 plots allotted during the 11-month period of 2018, declining 98.95 per cent over the same period of last year.


The Governorate of Al Dhahirah witnessed a phenomenal growth of 217.47 per cent in plot allotments, at 5,943 plots. In addition, plot allotments rose by 9.89 per cent and 75.76 per cent to 3,434 plots and 5,257 plots in the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah and North Al Sharqiyah, respectively. Housing plot allotments in the Governorate of Muscat and the Governorate of North Al Batinah increased by 5.30 per cent and 8.04 per cent to 2,680 and 779 plots, respectively, during the 11-month period under review. Residential plot allotments were down by 17.53 per cent in the Governorate of Dhofar (1,101), 93.80 per cent in Al Buraimi (72), 5.66 per cent in South Al Batinah (5,036), and 37.57 in the Governorate of Al Wusta (628) till the end of November 2018 compared to last year.
