SALALAH, June 14 -

It was a gathering of youths aged between 18 and 21 years to mark the Minor Founder’s Day, a day of good deeds, whereby hotel teams from across the Minor International family are encouraged to contribute towards society by engaging with a charity of their choice.

This year Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara chose to work with Omani Bahjah Orphan Society, a non-profit association that helps to educate and empower local orphaned and vulnerable children.

The Minor Founder’s Day is observed globally on June 4 and interested hotels schedule events as per the convenience of the stakeholders.

The event was inaugurated by Abdullah bin Aqeel al Ibrahim, Acting Deputy Governor of Dhofar.

A total of 43 youths aged between 18 and 21 years attended the iftar alongside General Manager James Hewitson and HR Director Fatma al Sinawi as well as other dignitaries.

After a feast of traditional Arabic cuisine, the youths had the opportunity to meet with the resort’s team to gain an insight into the range of job opportunities available within the hospitality industry to consider as a future career.

Hewitson called the event an attempt to engage with the local community.

“We were delighted to host a group of inspiring and ambitious youths to mark Minor Founder’s Day. The idea behind Minor Founder’s Day is to support the local community, something that has been a core part of our ethos since we opened so this was a fantastic initiative for us to get involved with. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the Omani Bahjah Orphan Society to showcase hospitality as a viable career option and hope to welcome these young people as employees of Anantara in the future,” he said.
