Hockey personality SAS Naqvi to be honoured in India

Muscat: Veteran hockey personality Saiyed Ali Sibtain Naqvi will be presented with an award by the publishing group of news portal for his great contribution to sports, on December 22. Former Oman national hockey coach SAS Naqvi had also served as the technical advisor for Oman Hockey Association and Oman Olympic Committee.
Naqvi will be among a handful of achievers to be honoured at Deputy Speaker Hall, Constitution Club of India in New Delhi on December 22.
The group initiated the awards, named ‘Bharat Gaurav Samman’ to recognise the ‘great achievers in various categories who have, through their accomplishments, have broken barriers, set examples and are role models to our society’.
In a letter addressed to Naqvi informing of the group’s decision to honour the Oman-based Indian hockey personality, Chairman and Group Editor of Ramprakash Verma said: “It gives us immense pleasure to inform you about the presentation ceremony of ‘Bharat Gaurav Samman’ on December 22. The highlight of the ceremony will be the presentation of ‘Bharat Gaurav Samman’ awards to a select brand of great achievers in the field of business, literature, education, fashion and design, heath and science, journalism, sports, entertainment and social welfare.
“These awards aim to acknowledge the achievements and contribution of iconic Indians, who have made us proud and strengthened the foundation of our society.”
