Weather: PACDA urges people to take caution

Muscat: Most areas of the northern part of Oman experienced the influence of the trough on Sunday.


The Mussandam Governorate was the first to experience the thundershowers associated with fresh downdraft winds and hail in addition to the areas of Oman Sea coasts, Al Hajr Mountains and adjoining areas.  Suhar, Shinas all experienced strong winds and hail.


Public Authority for Civil Defence (PACDA) has urged citizens and residents to take caution on the the roads to avoid any risk factors.


According to Oman Met Office of Public Authority for Civil Aviation, the weather will continue the pattern for two days that includes Monday as well.  Rains are expected throughout the northern parts of the Sultanate.  Muscat is expected to receive moderate and heavy rains at night.


According to the weather forecast, there is chance of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog over parts of Dhofar, Al Wusta and South Al Sharqiyah governorates.


Over most of the Sultanate winds will be southeasterly light to moderate occasionally fresh over al Dahirah and al Buraimi governorates.


The sea is expected to be moderate to rough along most of the coasts with maximum wave height of 2.5 meters. The Met Office has also warned on poor horizontal visibility during thundershowers, fog and dust as well as fresh downdraft winds and hail precipitation.

On Monday the weather expert forecasts partly cloudy skies over most of the northern governorates of the Sultanate with chances of isolated rain occasionally thundershowers associated with fresh downdraft winds and hail over Musandam governorate, Oman Sea coasts and Al-Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas. Chance of late night to early morning low level clouds or fog over parts of Dhofar, al Wusta and South Al Sharqiya governorates.


is likely to be cloudy or partly cloudy in Muscat, Musandam, Buraimi, Dhahirah, Dhakiliyah, North and South Sharqiyah and North and South Batinah, the Met Office said.








There are chances of isolated rain and occasional thundershowers associated with fresh winds and hail.
